Small-Sided Football Tournaments on Ugljan Island – A Summer of Sport and Community

For decades, summer on Ugljan Island has been unimaginable without the small-sided football tournaments that bring together local players, island residents, visitors, and sports enthusiasts from across the region. What makes these tournaments special is not only the competitive spirit but also the sense of community, tradition, and the dedication of local associations that organize and sustain them year after year.

MNT Partija – Sutomišćica

One of the most renowned and longest-running tournaments on the island is MNT Partija in Sutomišćica. Organized by the Santa Fe Youth Association, the tournament has been held since 2009 and attracts teams from Ugljan Island, neighboring islands, and the wider region. Lasting for a full week, the event offers daily entertainment with DJs, food, and drinks. On the final day, following the championship match, visitors can enjoy a music program featuring a popular singer or band.

MNT Pojonsko Srce – Poljana

Organized by the Pojonsko Srce Youth Association, MNT Pojonsko Srce has become one of the symbols of the island’s sporting summer. This traditional tournament has brought together participants of all generations for decades, creating a unique atmosphere where sport blends with music, entertainment, and social gatherings. Held since 2002, its anniversary editions highlight its importance to both the local community and visitors. The tournament finale includes a raffle, fireworks display, a torchlight procession along the entire waterfront, and a concert by a popular singer or band.

MNT Jarac – Lukoran

Since 2013, Lukoran has hosted MNT Jarac, a tournament organized by the Jarac Youth Association. Known for its excellent atmosphere and large attendance, the tournament attracts teams from across Zadar County. Alongside a rich barbecue offering, visitors can enjoy daily entertainment with DJ Vihor. The highlight of each edition is a live concert held after the awards ceremony.

Since 2015, the children's tournament Kozlić has been held alongside the senior competition. Although more relaxed in nature, the youngest participants show no shortage of competitive spirit.

MNT Na Mulu – Ugljan

MNT Na Mulu is one of the younger tournaments on Ugljan Island, yet it has quickly become an essential part of the island’s sporting calendar. Organized by the MNK Ugljan Association, it has been held since 2017 and attracts an increasing number of teams, supporters, and football enthusiasts every year. Set in the unique atmosphere of Mul, in the center of the village of Ugljan, the tournament combines sporting competition with the charm of a Mediterranean summer, creating an enjoyable experience for both participants and visitors. More than just a football tournament, MNT Na Mulu is a gathering place that showcases the importance of football, community, and island traditions in local life.
