Ošljak - Lazaret
Not far from Preko is the island Ošljak with 29 inhabitants and an area of 0,39 km2. It is the smallest permanently inhabited island of the Adriatic. It is only half a nautical mile away from Preko. Ošljak is an example of traditional Mediterranean architecture, with an old fishing port and the Church of St. Mary from the 6th century. The hiking trail on the island is two kilometres long, passing by a lighthouse and the remains of windmills – mills from the 16th century. In 1985, Ošljak was declared a forest park. Today it is connected by a ferry line with Zadar (Gaženica) and Preko.
